Food is a resource used to pay for things in GambCiv.
How to get[]
Farming[]
In the beginnings of a game you will farm wheat to get more food. Each wheat harvested gives you 3 food.
Additionally some mainline maps contain farmland terrain. GambCiv automatically converts these to wheat that you can harvest for free.
Fishing[]
Eventually you will be able to afford a shipyard and fishing boats. You can move your fishing boat into deep water and fish with it. This will gain you 6 food. This is double the food per action points.
Fishing is also more efficient on land. To farm wheat every turn you must alternate between at least two hexes. Fishing boats can be operated every turn on a single hex.
